ARCANE SKILL LIST

Novice Skills

Accuracy – 5 sp (prereqs – Full Spell Column Level 1)
Once per day, per purchase of this skill, the caster can call ‘Accuracy’ on any cast spell that missed its target either from the caster throwing badly or the spell being ‘Dodged’. This spell is recast for free and is cast just using the spells name.

Arcane Lore [Magic School] – 4 sp (prereqs – Read Magic)
You choose one of the Arcane Spell Schools and gain a special Knowledge: Arcane packet of the appropriate type. You know the basics about what your spell school is about, how it works, and why. This skill can be purchased multiple times, with each purchase applying to a different school of magic.

Arcane Attunement [Magic School] – 5 sp (prereqs – Arcane Lore)
Choose a Spell School that you have Arcane Lore for. You are now considered a caster of that spell school and are able to begin buying spell slots and learning spells for that school of magic. This skill can be purchased multiple times, with each purchase applying to a different school of magic. This skill also opens up a new set of skills (Arcane Specialization) that are specific to each school of magic.

Craft: [school specialty] 1 – 6 sp (prereqs - appropriate Arcane Attunement)
Binding – Craft Ward
This skill creates semi-permanent wards for all sorts of various things.

Black – Craft Shackles
Creates powerful magical shackles that restrict stats, skills, and advantages.

Elemental – Craft Totem
Creates items that can hold certain elemental spells as well as provide defenses.

Necromancy – Craft Corpse
You can create undead from corpses. Torture makes the body a stronger undead.

White – Craft Bandages
Creates bandages that can hold healing spells and status removal spells.

Transcribe 1 – 5 sp (prereqs – Read Magic)
This skill allows your character to be able to copy spells into a spellbook at a faster rate than standard.

Read Magic – 4 sp (prereqs – Read and Write)
Your character has learned how to view and comprehend magical symbols and notations. You can read spell scrolls, magical script, and can identify other magical markings.

Spell Slots 1 – 2, 2, 2, 2 sp (prereqs – Arcane Specialization)
Each time this skill is purchased, your character gains a Level 1 spell slot. Upon purchasing 4 Level 1 Spell Slots, you can begin to purchase Level 2 spell slots of the same school.

[You must have spent 40 points in Arcane Skills and Universal Skills. Furthermore, you must spend 5sp in order to become an Apprentice level character and gain the ability to buy into Apprentice Skills.]

Apprentice Skills

Arcane Specialization: [Magic School] Rank 1 – 5sp (prereqs - Arcane Attunement)
Binding – Magic Sight 1
Your sight allows you to determine information about the magical abilities, nature, planar affiliation, and enchantments something possesses.

Black – Palpable Aura 1
You can cast multiple fear based effects upon yourself and gain that spell as an area of effect centered on you for a short time.

Elemental – Wild Empathy 1
You are able to tune in with the natural world around you to get a general sense of the feelings of the environment.

Elemental – Nature Sense
You are able to ‘Sense Nature’ around you and sense the presence of Elementals, Plant creatures, Animals and Beasts.

Necromancy – Torture 1
Your character is skilled in the art of torture. Once per day per rank, you can force a victim to answer a number of questions truthfully equal to your rank in this skill. Also, people who were tortured to death give bonuses to animated or crafted Undead.

White – Caretaker 1
Your prowess at using the First Aid skill is increased and allows you to use the skill at faster rates and perform more advanced feats of healing. Bandages you craft are also advanced.

Basic Arcane Theory – 10 sp (prereqs – Level 6 and Full Spell Column Levels 1-3)
Your character obtains a special Knowledge: Basic Arcane Theory packet. This packet details some of the finer points of low level magic as well as basic advanced applications for those spells. You also discover a number of minor rituals that you can research and cast.

Basic Arcane Mastery – 5 sp (prereqs – Basic Arcane Theory)
Your character has taken the knowledge obtained in their theoretical research and has been able to transfer that knowledge to practical application and are able to research and cast a number of minor rituals.

Craft: [school specialty] 2 – 6 sp
Binding – Craft Ward
This skill creates semi-permanent wards for all sorts of various things.

Black – Craft Shackles
Creates powerful magical shackles that restrict stats, skills, and advantages.

Elemental – Craft Totem
Creates items that can hold certain elemental spells as well as provide defenses.

Necromancy – Craft Corpse
You can create undead from corpses. Torture makes the body a stronger undead.

White – Craft Bandages
Creates bandages that can hold healing spells and status removal spells.

Craft Scroll: Rank 1 – 6 sp (prereqs - Transcribe)
This skill allows you to craft scrolls that you can then transcribe spells of the appropriate levels onto. Rank 1 is level 1-3 spells. Rank 2 is level 4-6 spells. Rank 3 is Level 7 spells.


Spell Slots 2 – 3, 3, 3, 3 sp (prereqs – Full Spell Column Level 1)
Each time this skill is purchased, your character gains a Level 2 spell slot. Upon purchasing 4 Level 2 Spell Slots, you can begin to purchase Level 3 spell slots of the same school.

Spell Slots 3 - 4, 4, 4, 4 sp (prereqs – Full Spell Column Level 2)
Each time this skill is purchased, your character gains a Level 3 spell slot. Upon purchasing 4 Level 3 Spell Slots, you can begin to purchase Level 4 spell slots of the same school.

Spell Slots 4 – 5, 5, 5, 5 sp (prereqs – Full Spell Column Level 3, Basic Arcane Mastery)
Each time this skill is purchased, your character gains a Level 4 spell slot. Upon purchasing 4 Level 4 Spell Slots, you can begin to purchase Level 5 spell slots of the same school.

[You must have spent 120 points in Arcane Skills and Universal Skills. Furthermore, you must spend 10sp in order to become an Adept level character and gain the ability to buy into Adept Skills.]

Adept Skill List

For every purchase of this skill, the caster can push any ritual that they cast up or down on the alteration charts for that ritual.

Each time this skill is purchased, your character gains a Level 7 spell slot. Upon purchasing 4 Level 7 Spell Slots, you can begin to purchase Level 8 spell slots of the same school.

Standard Arcane Theory – 15 sp (prereqs – Level 9 and Full Spell Column Levels 1-6)
Your character obtains a special Knowledge: Standard Arcane Theory packet. This packet details some of the finer points of mid level magic as well as basic advanced applications for those spells. You also discover a number of rituals that you can research and cast.

Standard Arcane Mastery – 10 sp (prereqs – Basic Arcane Theory)
Your character has taken the knowledge obtained in their theoretical research and has been able to transfer that knowledge to practical application and are able to research and cast a number of new rituals.

Do the Craft skills here require anything? There's no prereq listed.

I thought that it would logically progress that in order to craft the items related to a certain school of magic, you must be a caster of that magic type. But perhaps not.

Simply, in order to craft any magic school related craft item, you must be a caster of that school. This is represented skill wise by having an Arcane Attunement.

In regards to Craft Bandages. You asked if you needed healing capacity to make them. The answer is no. However, without healing spells to use with the bandages, all you are left with are some superior bandages that have the ability to store healing/status removal spells.
