The Noble House of Kel Empty
PostSubject: The Noble House of Kel   The Noble House of Kel Icon_minitimeFri Nov 13, 2009 3:37 pm

The Kel family is an old and respected noble line. In fact, it is widely regarded as THE noble line. Though the status quo for the last century has been a mostly peaceful existence of the three ruling Princes, it is often whispered that should anyone make a claim to the throne and succeed, it would be this family. However, they seem content with keeping things the way they are.

The current head of the Kel line is Grand Duke Lasider Kel. He serves as the right hand and voice of the enigmatic Prince Tepesh and seems to basically rule in the Prince's stead. This conception was born out of the fact that Prince Tepesh is almost never seen and all meetings with him are delegated to the Grand Duke. In reality, the Prince has developed a unique psychic bond with the Grand Duke and can interact with the Grand Duke from remote locations. Esentially, meeting with the Grand Duke is the same as meeting with Prince Tepesh, as his mind is always present for important matters. Only the Prince and Grand Duke are aware of this connection.

The Grand Duke has spent the last 40 years in his current position (an oddity for his young age) and has ruled (more or less) without incident in his lands and Prince Tepesh's lands as well. In fact, 23 years ago, when a new position for Prince opened up, the nation of Mordavia collectively rallied behind him to become Prince himself and some even went so far as to claim him for King. However, for reasons he never disclosed, he humbly resisted these claims and promoted Tepesh, another Grand Duke.

The Grand Duke has no wife, who died birthing her youngest son. He has two sons Tovias, 28 and Novak, 25. Tovias is usually left to his own devices under the supervision of the family's trusted retainer, Kethal. Novak usually serves as an advisor and aid to his father.

Lord Lasider Kel, Grand Duke of Valicta

The Grand Duke is an imposing man at 6'4". Even in his waning years (he is 64 years old), he is in incredible health and is still physically commanding. His voice is often soft and grandfatherly, offering comfort no matter what he is saying.

He is often calm and collected but is prone to strong temper when people challenge the stability of the status quo. He rules to the letter of the law but is known to be compasionate and caring, always judging in fairness and wisdom.

He is deeply loyal to his family and extremely loyal to his Prince. These are the principles by which he lives. Loyalty and Family. His family serves as the brightness of his life and is what seems to drive him from day to day and keep him in good health. His only regret, even though he does not show it, is of his eldest son Tovias whom he still loves deeply but sees as a great disappointment to the family name and honor because of his party boy attitude.

Retainers:

The Grand Duke does not hold any retainers other than Kethal, who is currently serving as a retainer to Tovias. He feels that he and Novak are more than capable of handling day to day business without ther people to get in the way.
